This campaign got me thinking, the colour again was dull juse like the comic poster. therefore this shows not using colour makes its more tense and effective. There is a child holding the banned, this is aimed at people as well as charities, who think self harming is bad and should be stopped. This is based on a message from the victims making people understand who dont. I liked this poster as it was positive not as the other negative posters i have researched on. The use of medium shot is to show what is Beneath the message. this develops a relationship between the reader.
I researched on self harming and found out they were different types...:

* The most common forms are cutting the arms, hands and legs, and less commonly the face, abdomen, breasts and even genitals

*Some people burn or scald themselves, others inflict blows on their bodies, or bang themselves against something

*Other forms of self-harm include scratching, picking, biting, scraping and occasionally inserting sharp objects under the skin or into body orifices, and swallowing sharp objects or harmful substances.

This is a very different leaflet. It doesnt have much things going on however it makes you think. the colour is very dull, dry purple. The picture gives us the image of wanting love, want to be in there comfortable zone. To conclude the leaflet must be aiming at women as there is a women in the picture.
"This leaflet provides information about self-harm and is for anyone who is harming themselves, or feels that they might. We hope it will also be helpful for their friends and families."

"IMMOLATION" - is known as harming yourself,

*i researched on it and found out that people actually put fire on themselves. This was very alarming to me.
Reaserching on self harming i found out that there was a another word used for self harming..

"IMMOLATION"

* There was sum interetsed facts on children self harming, which really helped!

Yaaaaay!

* immolation is defined setting fire to yourself.. different people from different countries known to do this.

This webiste was really good and gve me lots of information on the subject.

*Understanding why you do it?

I had been a self-harmer for three years but I realised that what I thought I was controlling was actually controlling me. It was and is hard and I sympathise with anyone trying to stop or anyone still harming. My parents have never found out and I think that is why I have found my stuggle hard, although it is hard for anyone.
My advice to anyone would be to find someone who can help you and who won't judge you to help you back on the right path to do what you dream of doing. I want to be a teacher and hopefully I will be one day but self harm was holding me back and making me live in the past - somewhere where no-one should be.

This was said by a person who self harmed. I found what they said really insteresting.

This gave me lots of ideas for my leaflet!!!

Talking to someone

"I self-harmed, thinking it was the best way to cope with emotional pain / stress. I thought it would be a lot easier to stop then I thought while doing it, however when it came to admitting I was a self-harmer was a big turning point because I suddenly realised what I was doing. Not hurting myself was the hardest thing because that seemed to me to be the easiest way of coping.
I finally decided to stop after talking to someone and kept active to keep my mind of it. Nights will be the worst because there is nothing to keep your mind off it, but keep positive and you'll get through it. I did, when I didn't think there was any way out, I'm so much happier knowing I can do other things to cope with emotional pain.
Things can always get better."
* i looked for pictures but i couldnt find many for me to do my textual analysis, therefore i information i found and thought it was good to copy and paste it..

New research shows that 1 in 12 young people have self-harmed in the UK, which equates to at least two children in every school classroom. Yet little information about self harm is available for professionals who regularly come into contact with young people.

My Research

I looked at different websites and i went to BBC News UK, I found out few facts on self harming which was really interesting.

"The charity's Sally Jenkins said self-harm was indicative of "great emotional stress" and that it was "horrifying" up to one in 15 of 11 to 25 year olds have self harmed".

"The plea follows a UK inquiry into self harm, which found one in 15 children and young adults had self-harmed"

I also researched on Lhttp://www.nshn.co.uk/facts.html, i found some interesting facts on self harm.

What is self-harm?
Self-harm is a way of expressing very deep distress. Often, people don't know why they self-harm. Afterwards, people feel better able to cope with life again, for a while. Self-harm is a broad term. People may injure or poison themselves by scratching, cutting or burning their skin, by hitting themselves against objects, taking a drug overdose, or swallowing or putting other things inside themselves.

Why do people harm themselves?
A person who self-harms is likely to have gone through very difficult, painful experiences as a child or young adult. At the time, they probably had no one they could confide in, so didn't receive the support and the emotional outlet they needed to deal with it.

Who is most likely to self-harm?
According to recent research, the majority are young women, although the percentage of young men seems to be on the increase. Self-harming behaviour is also significant among minority groups discriminated against by society. Someone who has mental health problems is more likely to self-harm.

Physical, emotional or sexual abuse
Women often find themselves in a caring role, putting their own needs last. This can grossly undermine their sense of worth, their opinions and strengths. In due course, a woman may come to feel she is an unimportant, silent witness to the abuses she has to endure. She may lose her sense of identity, power and rights.

I found this very important as i could use Examples of these question in my campagin and answer them using a picture. this is very appealing piece of information for my stimulus.

Textual Analysis

Looking at this helf harming campaign, i could describe the mise en scene. The colour of the picture is black and white, very dull, this emphasise that the issue is not advertised in a good way, there is no use of bright colours to attract the readers. There is no use of colours as helf harming is a not a convencing situation. The cartoon pictures suggests the target audience are young teenagers as the campaign is based on comic with lots of cartoon drawings. There are close up of the cartoon pictures to show there facial expresions, this develops a relationship with the readers. There is also a midum close up th show the background of the picture. The use of text shows that there young children of what they are saying " hahahahahaha"

An IDEAAAA!!!

Overall researching on my ideas i have decided to do an AWARENESS CAMPIGN on "SELF HARMING". My Target audience will be age 14-18 years ole as it is popular in this age range

Self-harm ... a 14-year-old girl at Erina Fair shopping centre on a friday night.

I think this will be interesting at well as effective. i am now going to research on self harming

After looking at the comic campaign, i came back to this self harming campaign. I found the comic campaign reall effective as it was set out as a comic and somthing a children could read and understand whereas this picture was very straight forward and is not effective. To conclude the picture is not clear.

I am still Researching on different teenager magazines, i started looking at sugar, after looking at Sugar, starting researching on Bliss, Heat.. to find how they structure there imformation abt real life issues.

Scandalous! Bizarre! We've got all the most shocking true-life tales of terror here at mybliss.co.uk. Plus, if you've got a good story, let us know all about it and you could have your say in a future issue of bliss magazine.
Shock real life: "Bullies made me self harm!"

biss had stories about bulling, this is a common problem teenagers faced, however i wanted to chose 1 stimulus, which would be effective.
I then looked at Heat magazine however the magazine more or less about celebrities and there lifes. it did not consist of any real life stories or any issues teenagers may experience. i researched alot but couldnt think of what i wanted to do and was finding this ver hard, because i couldnt decide on the stimulus or a campaign. Thereforei have changed my mind and want to create a front cover of a teen magazine as well as 2 A4 side of information on what my magazine is going to be about.

In lesson today Sam went through Adbusters, he explained what they were and looked through different Adbusters. our aim was to research on them, i looked into google images and found different images relating to Adbusters.

i found out that many compaines are against the Adbusters. There also known as social marketing campaigns. A still movement of information. I researched, and Adbusters: Soof AD i found all sorts of Adbusters.

I have many ideas at the moment however i am interested in creating a campaign magazine on real life issues. I am going to research on abuse, drug addicts, young offenders, racial and physical abuse, bullying and rape, poverty, health issues and many more. After researching on each stimulus i will decide on one, which gives me the best of interest and will get the readers attention.

I looked this website, this give me a huge range of stories. There were many real life stories about friendship, cyber bullying , Meting somebody on net for the first time and also crime.

however this site did not amaze me as there wasnt many ideas which could help me to decide on the main subject. Whilst thinking, i was researching on different websites. i wanted to look at the offical sites for teen magazines such as sugar, bliss, gossip... and see how they structure there information and find out more about the magazines. As the target audience is 13-19 years old i wanted to know what are the main issues teenagers go through and work my magazine upon that.
